Being Market Ready!

Artists and creatives from Central Victoria recently gathered in Castlemaine for the first ArtsACTION workshop: Being Market Ready.

The day provided a road map for participants to clarify their thoughts and ideas for finding solutions relevant to themselves and designing their career pathways.

They were taken on a journey aimed at exploring the key components listed below, in preparing a plan to reach new and expanded markets:

  • Clarifying your goals
  • Telling your story
  • Demonstrating your skills
  • Finding your markets
  • Confirming your tools
  • Creating a plan
  • Getting into action

The feedback was extremely positive, with many saying they enjoyed the networking and the time to think and focus on their own goals and aspirations:

“It made me think about the future positively”

“The day provided vital steps to assist in the development of my arts practice”

“I now feel fired and up and motivated”

“I enjoyed hearing from and spending time with other creatives”

“Thank you for delivering an informative and useful session! It was more valuable than a week marketing course through the NEIS program”

Participants were left enthusiastic and keen to get on with implementation. Some of the next steps they said they would take included updating a website, creating a business plan, meeting with others to continue momentum, finalising branding, and creating a presentation to pitch to potential buyers.

Bryley Savage, a communications, marketing and public relations specialist, presented at the end of the session, offering a support opportunity to participants. She is one of three mentors servicing the Bendigo region as part of the Australian Small Business Advisory Service (ASBAS) digital mentoring program. This opportunity is access to 2 hours of one-on-one mentoring for a highly subsidised fee of $25 in total.

The next ArtsACTION workshop is being held in Bendigo on the theme ‘Working Together Effectively’. This workshop provide ideas to broaden networks, address methods to work together more effectively, and ways to become involved in new collective opportunities.

Make sure you book now, as places for this are extremely limited.
